LUMBER SHACKS has been totally dismantled by the CLIMATE CHANGE AGENDA.

Do the NBC standards help to address climate change? Yes. Energy efficient features include insulation requirements for various wall, floor, and ceiling assemblies. Previously, the code did not specify an R value, it only stated that adequate insulation must be installed. The new code also exactly how to properly air seal a home. A new home built to the NBC energy efficient standard reduces CO2 emissions by 1.4 tons. If all homes were built to this standard, the total provincial CO2 reduction would be 550 tons annually. https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/information/agriculture-and-land/building-standards-in-pei
Prince Edward Island has adopted the NATIONAL BUILDING CODE which means that our buildings from 200 sq. ft. to 640 sq. ft. have to be built the same as houses with 2 x 6 walls, R-22 insulation in the walls, vapour barrier, sealant, 8 1/2 inches of insulation in the ceiling, no wall mounted electric heaters, tie downs after delivery ect. If we make our buildings with 2 x 4 walls the way it has been done for centuries, we are NOT ALLOWED to put any insulation in the walls at all. They are concerned that someone might live in one of these small buildings and use a bit too much electricity and therefore help destroy the planet. We have been building summer places, and all our smaller buildings were insulated more to keep them cool than to keep them warm. Our buildings DO NOT need this National Building Code that is totally influenced by the delusional people behind Climate Change. GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE AND OVERREACH IS MAKING LIFE IN CANADA VERY DIFFICULT.
DECISION MADE For over 18 years my sons and I have been building cedar-shingled cabins and bunkhouses in the heart of the beautiful village of St. Peter's Bay Prince Edward Island. As of the end of August 2022 we have determined that WE WILL NOT be making any buildings for sale on our lot that need to be built to the code. All of our buildings now will be under 220 sq.ft. utility buildings.
SHACKS RENTALS AIR B&B St. Peter's Bay Prince Edward Island
Just before the new code came intoeffect we had a permit for three cabins. We got them up and running as an Air B&B in St. Peter's Bay P.E.I. and they have been doing great year round!
